Red Star Poker launched in 2005 as a standalone online poker room with proprietary software.  While the poker room accepted players from all countries, they specialized in Russian players.  The poker room had trouble growing their small player base and joined the Cake Poker Network in 2006 where they have been ever since.  The Cake Poker Network is now known as the Revolution Gaming Network.  Red Star Poker shares the network with big names such as Lock Poker and Intertops.

Red Star Poker accepts players from the U.S.  Of all the U.S. facing Revolution Gaming Network skins, Red Star Poker has the best support and fastest cashouts.  Online poker players in the U.S. can deposit at Red Star Poker using Visa, Mastercard, or Western Union Quick Pay.  Western Union users can deposit up to $3000 with a fee of only $15.  U.S. players can request a cashout by bank wire or Western Union.

Players in the rest of the world can deposit by Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Skrill, Webmoney, Moneta.ru, Ukash, and Western Union.  Withdrawals can be made by Visa, Webmoney, Neteller, Skrill, Western Union and bank wire.

Red Star Poker Rakeback

Players that sign up through RakeMonkey will receive 30% Red Star Poker rakeback.  Rakeback is paid every Thursday for the previous Wednesday-Tuesday play.  Red Star Poker uses the dealt rakeback method meaning that players do not have to contribute to the pot to receive rakeback credit.  All players that are dealt cards receive an equal share of rakeback for that hand.

In addition to cash game rakeback, players also receive rakeback on tournament entry fees.  There are no deductions from Red Star Poker rakeback.  Players may have only one rakeback account on the Revolution Gaming Network.

Red Star Poker Bonus

Red Star Poker offers Rake Monkey players a 250% up to $1500 first deposit bonus.  The bonus clears at a rate of 16.67 FPPs for every $1 in bonus.  One Frequent Player Point (FPP) is earned for every $2 in rake taken from cash game pots.  Tournament players earn 3.5 FPPs for every $1 in tournament fees paid.  The bonus releases in $5 increments and any bonus not cleared expires after 90 days.

Red Star Poker also offers monthly reload bonuses.  Red Star Poker bonuses add 18-27% rakeback to the 36% rakeback paid to our players.  Players earn up to 63% rakeback while clearing the bonus.  Bonuses are not deducted from rakeback.  Rakeback stats can be seen by going to My Account/VIP Status in Red Star Poker’s software.

Red Star Poker Promotions

Red Star Poker offers several promotions to players.  The VIP program is called Loyalty Levels.  Rakeback players can participate in the VIP program.  There are 50 levels in the Loyalty Levels program.  Each tier has its own rewards which are doubled or tripled if the level is reached at a high speed.  The lower levels of Loyalty Levels award Gold Chips.  Higher levels award players with straight cash that does not carry a wager requirement to cash out.

Gold Chips can be used to enter special tournaments.  Some of these tournaments award more Gold Chips.  Some Gold Chip tournaments are satellites to multi table tournaments that carry a guarantee.

Red Star Poker Cash Games

Red Star Poker specialized in No Limit Texas Hold’em.  The most popular games are 6 and 9 seat games between $.02/$.04 and $2/$4 blinds.  Some shorthanded higher limit games are also available during peak hours.

There are also some fixed limit games up to $10/$20 limits.  Most fixed limit games are at 6 max tables.  Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha High/Low, and Limit Omaha High/Low are also spread often.  Red Star Poker does not offer any unusual games, not even Seven Card Stud.

Red Star Poker Tournaments

Virtually all Red Star Poker tournaments are No Limit Texas Hold’em although there are a handful of Pot Limit Omaha and Pot Limit Omaha High/Low tournaments.  Tournament buyins start at $.50 and run as high as $530.  All tournaments have a guaranteed prize pool.

The largest guaranteed tournaments are on Sundays when the $530 buyin $80,000 guaranteed tournament and the $109 buyin $110,000 guaranteed tournament are offered.

Red Star Competition/Player Traffic

As we mentioned previously, Red Star Poker is part of the Revolution Gaming Network and is neck and neck with Merge Gaming as the top US facing poker network.  Most cash games and tournaments from the micros to middle stakes are regularly populated, especially during the evenings.   During peak hours, the network has about 5,000 players online.

Red Star has plenty of fish in their games.  The Revolution Network is heavily focused on online sportsbooks and casinos, in addition to poker.  There are normally always more than a few good games at each game and stake level.

Red Star Poker Freerolls

Red Star Poker offers several daily freerolls.  Many of the freerolls are super satellites to guaranteed tournaments.  Many freerolls have a cash prize pool of $25 up to $250.

Red Star Overall

Red Star is a great option for US facing players, and may be one the best available skin on the Revolution Network.  With a great deposit bonus and lightening fast payouts, we’re surprised the room isn’t more popular worldwide.
